A volunteer Governing Board of community members guides the Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon organization.

The members of the Governing Board of the Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon organization meet quarterly in addition to attending an annual summer retreat. Standing committees of the board and ad hoc working groups meet in between full board meetings throughout the year and as needed.

The members of the Board's governance committee coordinate board development throughout the year. Individuals may submit names for consideration by the committee. Governing Board directors serve two-year terms and may serve up to four consecutive terms. Directors are elected by members in good standing of the Friends of the YSSO.
